Scout is a compact, battery-powered measuring unit designed for sawmill owners who want accurate, repeatable measurements without full lift automation. It installs in under a minute using a single thumb bolt and works equally well on hand-crank or power-lift mills.
Using a recoil encoder, Scout precisely tracks sawhead movement and displays real-time measurements while automatically factoring in blade kerf. This allows you to plan cuts more accurately, maintain consistent board thickness, and reduce guesswork during measuring —without modifying your mill or wiring into existing systems.
